The fundamentals of communication

The ability to connect powerfully with other human beings is vital, even more so in a digital age. This session teaches something fundamental – that a small amount of time spent consciously developing ‘the basics’ can transform our personal impact.

This is an in-house session that is designed for a group of delegates from the same organisation.

It is especially pertinent to those who take responsibility for communicating with the outside world on behalf of the practice. This might be at a project level – talking to contractors, fellow design professionals or clients. Equally it might be at a more strategic, practice level, talking to press and media, movers and shakers, potential clients and collaborators – or even the general public at large.

  • What are the truly great communicators actually doing when they communicate?
  • How are they doing it?
  • Why?
  • What do they do to overcome anxiety, nerves, self-doubt and express themselves with grace and skill.
  • Most importantly – what can we learn from them?

Of course, communication is very much an ‘art’ not a ‘science’ – there is no right or wrong way to communicate; but there are certainly some pitfalls to avoid and some positive principles to consciously observe. 

We’ll guide you through all of the above and more in this workshop, leaving you with a clear idea of how to communicate with confidence and poise in both your professional and personal life. 

This session can be run as a more intimate workshop for a small group of people (8-12) who want to go particularly deep into the topic.

Alternatively, we are able to run this session as an interactive talk for a larger group (20+)

We like using Zoom but we are happy to use other platforms if preferred by our clients.
