Orbit Group is one of the UK’s leading not-for-profit housing groups – managing a portfolio of homes for over 100,000 customers.
During a significant period of organisational change and restructuring, Orbit Group partnered with us to equip all 300 of their leaders with the tools and mindset shifts needed to confidently lead their teams through uncertainty and continuing to deliver on their mission of providing affordable housing to people in vulnerable circumstances.
Challenge
Leaders at Orbit Group were navigating a sustained period of internal change and restructuring unlike anything they’d experienced before. They needed support rolling out the changes, engaging with their teams and managing the impact of it on their employees.
To lead through future change with confidence, leaders required the tools to communicate clearly, provide direction amid ambiguity and feel equipped to support their teams to process the impact.
What we did
Across our 18-month partnership, we designed and delivered a tailored programme focused on several core areas:
- Unlocking the Power of Storytelling: Equipping managers with the skill to communicate and engage employees effectively around change.Â
- Understanding the Age of Change: Examining the pace and permanence of modern organisational change and how leaders can to adapt their leadership style to enable change-ready teams
- The Human Impact of Change: Understanding how change affects people psychologically and emotionally, and how to rebuild trust following a period of instability
- Leading through Uncertainty: Equipping leaders with practical tools and frameworks to provide clear direction, communicate effectively and build agile and resilient teams.

Results
We were delighted to see that the key success measures all scored extremely highly and either increased or equalled the previous year.
A critical insight that emerged repeatedly was that how leaders communicate change directly shapes their teams’ receptivity and willingness to adopt new systems and ways of working.
Leaders came away with practical tools, shared language around change and renewed confidence in their ability to steer their teams in an environment where change has now become the norm.
